Rogier Trompert earned his Bachelor of Arts degree at the Academy of visual art, Minerva, in Groningen with a major in medical illustration in 1996 and a traineeship at ‘the Department of art in medicine’ of the University of Manchester (UK).
He obtained a Master degree from the Postgraduate Course in Scientific illustration of the University Maastricht and Zuyd University and became certified in 1999.
The same year Rogier Trompert started his own company, Rogier Trompert Medical Art, focusing on Medical and Scientific illustration. He works for medical specialists, pharmaceutical companies, universities, museums, scientific magazines and publishers.
Furthermore he works for the faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences of the Maastricht University at the department of Anatomy and Embryology. From 2004 he teaches at the Master Scientific Illustration where he became Head and Coordinator in January 2012.
He is active in the European Association of Medical Illustrators AEIMS (Association Européenne des Illustrateurs Médicaux et Scientifiques) since 1994 and currently serves in the AEIMS Board of Governors and is country representative for the Netherlands.
