Philip Wilson FMAA, RMIP (born 1953) has been a freelance medical illustrator for 32 year. He obtained a first class honours Vocational Diploma in Scientific, Medical and Technical Illustration at the Hornsey College of Art, London in 1973 and was a medical artist at the Manchester Royal Infirmary and the Medical College of St. Bartholomew’s Hospital, London until 1979. In 1979 he became a lecturer of Medical Illustration at the Institute of Urology, University of London, and in 1982 at Middlesex University where he was firstly lecturer and later Head of Course for the BA (Hons) Graphic Design, Scientific and Medical Illustration degree. He has held the office of Chairman of the Medical Artists’ Association of Great Britain on two occasions and was awarded a Fellowship in 1989. He creates medical and scientific illustrations both traditionally and digitally for clients in publishing, academia, medicine, surgery and forensic science.
