Debbie Maizels completed a B.Sc. in Botany and Zoology (1990) at the University of Reading, UK followed by a B.A. in Scientific Illustration (1994) at Middlesex University, London. She is a Chartered Biologist and a member of the Institute of Biology. Debbie has been a freelance scientific illustrator via her company Zoobotanica Scientific Illustration since 1994, producing illustrations for a wide variety of clients in all areas of the life, medical, veterinary and earth sciences. In 2002 she was artist-in-residence for one year at the Grant Museum of Zoology, University College London. She has also worked for institutions such as the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew and the British Museum of Natural History. In 2008 Deborah gained professional membership of the Medical Artists’ Association of Great Britain and is now working from her studio in Cornwall, U.K.
